Come and Hack Machine Actionability of Data Management Plans with us!

The Data Stewardship Wizard team invites experts and enthusiasts of semantic data, ontologies, FAIR and machine actionabliity to join us at ELIXIR BioHackathon on 9-13 November 2020 to work together on machine-actionable DMPs.

The event is virtual and free to attend. Register before 18 September.

Data Stewardship Wizard Helps to Fight COVID-19

Data Stewardship Wizard (DSW) developed in CCMi has become part of the VODAN-in-a-box  – a FAIR data storage solution for COVID-19 data. The DSW serves as a “CRF Wizard” for entering patient data. DData is stored in the RDF triple-store and metadata in the FAIR Data Point, so the solution fully meets the FAIR principles, i.e. the data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable, which is crucial for fighting  the pandemic.

The first VODAN-in-a-box installation took place at Kampala International University in Uganda.

“The Two Pillars” — IC3K 2019 Keynote Speech

Interested in the foundations of conceptual modelling? You may like to watch the keynote speech of Robert Pergl given in Vienna, September 2019.

Abstract:

In this keynote, I discuss two pillars of intellectual human endeavour: naming and hierarchies. I dig into the essence of these corner-stones of conceptualisation and explore their presence, significance and forms in various disciplines. Challenges of naming and hierarchies in engineering disciplines are discussed and lessons learned are formulated.

2nd Annual GO FAIR INs Meeting

This year, we again attended GO FAIR Implementation Networks Meeting (this time in Hamburg) with our international project Data Stewardship Wizard.Within its Implementation Networks, GO FAIR actively supports the implementation of FAIR principles – Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability a Reusability. The main topic was convergence in terms of finding and reusing standard solutions. The meeting was fascinating, full of exciting information on the border of information technology and work with data in the field of Life Science. From the perspective of our project, this was a great success as we have been mentioned in several presentations by speakers from various major European institutions. At the same time, we made new contacts and started cooperation with others.
